In 1912, six lots on the corner of Montview Boulevard and Elm Street were purchased and a donation of two adjoining lots was made forming Blessed Sacrament Parish. By 1922 Blessed Sacrament Parish announced the partial conversion of the parish building to accommodate students. The Sisters of Loretto accepted charge of the school, and in the fall of 1922, 57 pupils were enrolled and a vital and challenging educational institution was born.
Since the first graduating class in 1930, much has changed. Blessed Sacrament now enrolls more than 300 students from 2 1/2 year old preschoolers to 8th graders preparing to enter high school. Students are exposed to the latest technology, including electronic Smart Boards in three classrooms, access to reading software in classrooms and the school library, and a dedicated computer lab. The school recently expanded its physical campus into the former Bishop Machbeuf building on the south side of Elm Street, allowing for continued growth. The strong core curriculum is enhanced by a wide range of specials classes, athletic teams, after school enrichment programs, and even a summer camp.
Through more than 90 years of development, Blessed Sacrament has stayed true to its values of academic scholarship, community service, and development of spirituality. We are proud to continue the legacy started by the Sisters of Loretto in 1922 in preparing students as responsible, self-respecting, well-educated citizens.
